In this final scene of the story, the King asks Kim to stop talking to him. Kim refuses, saying that he will not hear the King's words. The King tells Kim to go see his daughter one last time. He says that the place is pitch black and that it is impossible for a child to be in it. He tells Kim that he cannot take his eyes off of his daughter. He wonders what she thinks of him, but he only has eyes for her. If he meets her again, he says, he will ask for her name. He wants to know what kind of people she likes, and if he can go to her and feel the destiny he feels in her. Kim blinks, and the King says that he has fallen asleep. He asks her if she wants to die, and she says that she does not want to die. She asks him if he wants to live or die. He replies that he needs to live more to know her answer to that question. Kim says that they will come to him because they are destined for each other.
