This chapter opens with a flashback to the beginning of the story. It's the same story we've heard before, but this time it's in a different language. The flashback tells us that in the light of day, beings were born with wings that were bright like the light in itself. Beings were all born with special talents. They were called heavenly beings, and they roamed the skies with their wings. The world obeyed them. The snicker snicker will lead to misfortune, no? What happens when you snicker? Nope, says the narrator. It turns out that jerome was the first to learn to use his special talents, and he won. He was kicked out of heaven after losing, and lost all his abilities. The narrator says that he was so surprised that he thought his heart would drop. He's here to lock that thing. He wants to know what's wrong with him. He doesn't want to be locked in there for years. He just wants to be left alone.
