In this chapter, we learn that the witches have created a symbol for the past millennium, but that they haven't used it to take over people's bodies. They've just made a journey back to the place where they belong, and now they're wondering what's going on. First, a witch has appeared with a new set of eyes, and they've only seen one other person for half a century. It's weird, says the witch, because she's still in training as a witch. She's heard rumors that someone has used an unlimited number of lenses to travel to Elssar, which means that the witch needs to figure out a way to get there. The witch asks if it's digging too much into her personal life, and the witch replies that she'd rather explain everything to the people who have used this to force her into becoming a grand or a wizard. She doesn't know why they'd force her to do anything, but she knows that she would never accept being a wizard, even if it meant threatening and harming others. She asks if there's anything she can do to become independent, but the witch says he's bound to a landowner, so he'll have to do whatever he wants to do until then.
