He's been hanging out with his "feral young boyfriend" , and the two of them have been talking about where they're going to go for the weekend. The narrator says that he'd like to go out with the young man, but he can't bear the thought of going out with someone who's not his age. The two decide to go to "Haruki's" apartment, which is right across the street from the narrator's place.
