The narrator is staying at an inn in the mountains, and she's bummed out that she'll have to go to work when she gets back. She's also bummed that she can't go to the theater with her boss because he's so nice to her. The narrator tries to figure out what's wrong with her, but she doesn't know what to do. She decides to go back to the inn and find out what happened. She realizes that she left her phone there, and that she didn't have time to give the ring to her boss when she was supposed to. She tries to get her boss to tell her what happened, but he won't tell her. Finally, the narrator realizes that the ring is what she was hiding from him. She tells him that she couldn't give him the ring because she was too busy trying to hide it from her boss.
