The scene opens with a soliloquy by the Marquis de Guiche in which he compares Guizhou's highness to a marquis. He tells Guizhou that he has chosen one man to accompany him because he is so high up and lonely. He asks Guizhou if he blames Guizhou for taking Guizhou and her heart. Guizhou tells him that he did not expect Guizhou to use the yunqi to cancel the marriage. The Marquis says that Guizhou is already aware that he should not have let him go now. He says that he deserves to die if he is unable to stop the attack. He then asks the Marquis to bring him a rain poncho so that he does not have to catch a cold. The rain poncho arrives and the Marquis tells him to put it on as soon as possible. He also tells the Marquis that the rain will pass by at dawn the next day. The two men prepare to bathe in the rain.
