About This Chapter
In this chapter, Zhuang tells the story of how he fell in love with Zhuang's sister. He tells Zhuang that he's just a "sow's ear" in front of her beauty, and that his family doesn't have much of a role to play in her life. Zhuang asks Zhuang why he wants to marry him, and Zhuang replies that he wants her as his "princess consort." Zhuang says that if he wants his family to help him, then he'll do so. He also says that Zhuang can't marry him because he was only thirteen years old when he painted a portrait of himself. Zhan says that he would willingly marry Zhuang as long as she didn't make him his princess consort, but that's not what he wants. He says that even if he were impeached tomorrow, he wouldn't be able to change his mind. He's here to congratulate Zhuang on his victory. He asks someone to bring him a jar of his "drunk rouge," which Zhuang has been holding in the east palace for some time, and tell him to invite Zhuang to taste it.
