About This Chapter
The scene opens with a charming bandit named "a'tang" leaving the ruan house. He's been there a long time, but he's still not used to being called a "big brother" . He calls his brother a "totterer" , which is a derogatory term for a drunk. He tells everyone that he was the one who rescued him from the prince, and he apologizes for what he said. He even brings out some of the finest wine that he made at home. He asks his father if it's the same wine he made last year, and his father says it is. The wine is so good that he doesn't need to save it, since he likes it so much. He says he'll make some more pots for his father, and the two of them have a great time drinking the best wine they've ever had. The father is upset that his son is drinking so much, and a'tang tells him to act more like a big brother. He then tells his father to take him back to his room, and when he gets there, he finds out that the guy he was drinking with didn't finish all that green plum wine he was supposed to make. The young master says he will escort his brother to his guest room.
