Back at the house, the Governess is worried about her son's health. She tells him to stay inside and not to go outside. The Governess tells her son to rub his hands together to make it easier for him to get out of the house if something should happen to him. He asks her to bring him some roasted sweet potatoes, which he grows himself. He tells her that his brother, cheng, is afraid of strangers. He says that he thought that cheng would leave his "safe zone" just for his sake, but that's why he took him back to his father's house. Worried that his son is sick, his father asked him to bring some medicine. He's not drinking the medicine, so he won't drink it. He wants to know where his brother is.
