In this chapter, we learn that Lin has been waiting for a long time for his appointment with the "real" witch. The real witch has stopped accepting appointments, which means that everyone who wants to meet the real witch is in a long line to do so. Lin's mother told him to burn the spell that accompanied the appointment, but since it would be forgotten after the spell was finished, only a select few people would know about it. Lin asks if he knows the spell, and he says he does, but he's not sure if he could have known it himself. He's glad that Lin is happy, because it means that they can travel together.
