About This Chapter
In this short scene, the young narrator, who is still recovering from his bout with the dream demon, tells his sister that he is envious of those who are healthy and happy. He tells her that he knows more people in college than he did at high school, and that the ones he is closest to are the ones who have the best candies. He asks them to let him try three different flavors of ice cream. They all look alike, but the ice cream tastes different. The narrator says that he cannot eat ice cream because he is still sick, but he does enjoy the cold sensation in his mouth. The young narrator asks if he can try the limited edition winter ice cream, and he says that it is bad if he gets sick again. He then asks if his sister has been taking good care of him lately, and she replies that she has been. He says that if he had stayed with her, he would not have been welcome at a boys' club. He explains that he only wants to eat with people who have normal energy levels, which is why he wants to get his sister to get better so that he can get her back to normal.
