The young master tells Lin that the family no longer has authority over the family, and that he is now an "abandoned stray" without a home. Lin tells the young master that he brought the herbs back to the old master for him to consume. The old master soon recovered, but he soon died. During the mourning period, young master blamed the herbs brought back on the young miss for her father's death, accusing her of having "colluded" with her lover. Lin says that he was an accomplice in the murder, but that he didn't want to let the master live. He plans to use the gourd of the void to find out the truth about the old masters death.
