Back at the prison, Lin tells the gang that he went to the doctor and that he'll be back soon. He asks if they can use his sword to cut open the bars on the door to escape. Lin says that novels are fictional and that cutting metal won't hurt his sword. He shows them his new sword, which has been modified so that it can be used as a locket, a rope, a flintlock, taels, and so on. He says that his gang master has made the sword so convenient that they can just use it to open the door and escape.
