About This Chapter
Xiaoxinyu, the master of poison, tells the story of his three-day stay at the sect's base. He observes the bald man waiting for someone. He thinks the sound of the man's flute is a "melodic sound" that expresses a longing. He tries to capture a pigeon, but it is too hard to do. The bald man also sends messages with flying pigeons, but the scene of loneliness makes him think that the sound must be a "mandatory" sound. The master tells him that martial artists should not judge people by appearances, especially when you are judging your opponent by appearances. When he first met the man, he had a girl from the sect whom he forgot her name, and they asked him for a prescription for a hair loss treatment. He was unable to connect him with music because he was "slight" in appearance. The martial artist, he says, will do things to make himself appear "elegant" like reading, playing instruments, thereby creating an elegant self. He says that tianba, a martial artist who studies hard, is an example of this. He also says that the martial artist doing other things is already a "popular culture" in the martial arts. He tells the master that he is the "number one secret agent" of the sect.
