This chapter opens with a discussion between the hall leader and the female members of the sect. The hall leader is worried that the alliance of the traditional arts preservationists is going after her. He has sold all of his hot-pot restaurants and disbanded the sect, but the women are still there. They are not fleeing, he says, but joining the sect with a "dream." He explains that women are oppressed by the feudal system, and they are born with a code of conduct. He says that his dream is to shout "I am the master of fate!" when he is facing "ruthless obstacles." He adds that he is still waiting for "a fateful obstacle." The women discuss the possibility of joining the gang of Master jia. They decide that they will have to live with the men of the gang, since they are both male martial artists.
