In this short scene, we are introduced to the young protagonist, Sebastian, and his mother, Nelly, who are in the process of giving birth to a baby boy. We learn that Sebastian has been kidnapped, murdered, and disposed of as a corpse. We are also introduced to Nelly's son, Sebastian Jr., who has just turned one. Sebastian is horrified to find out that his mother is dead and that his father is in a coffin.
