In this chapter, we learn that fujimura has been using his full power to destroy the three of them. He tells them that he has only used 50 percent of his power on them, and that they should stop hurrying up and stop. He says that he doesn't care what happens to them if they die, because he's more concerned about himself. . He wants to leave them behind, he says, but he knows what he has to do. He's just not brave enough to do it. He asks why he didn't just say so, and saki tells him that it's his poison that's taking effect. He explains that he never injected them with his poison, but that they're being taken over by his spirit, and their souls are being linked. He adds that they were all supposed to serve as his "boosters" to help him get his power up. But now, he tells them, they've failed. They've been unable to take the power away from him.
