The three of them finally gather, and loukios explains how they came to be. He tells the reader that the man in Lapis is the "elemental of darkness" , and that the black magic he uses is a curse on the "poor brethren" who fall into darkness because of negative emotions. He explains that the "cursed stones" he uses are elementals, because they were created by the "negative emotions" of fear and loathing. The "miasma" that he uses to describe miasma is "the power of purifying cation" . The queen of the light elementals is the only one who has the power to "purifi-cation" the elementals who have turned into monsters. If not for her, he says, they wouldn't be able to fight miasma or save their brethren.
