The next morning, Dr. Bledsoe arrives at the palace. He asks Zeke if there is a place on campus where one can learn how to use magic. Zeke tells him that there is, but that he should be careful not to be so careless with a girl whom he thinks is in trouble. He wonders if rumors are true that the girl cannot use magic, or if he has fallen in love with her. He then wonders if the rumors are just rumors, and wonders if it would be impossible for him to bring her to an infirmary. He also wonders if she has a "heart of ice," or if she is afraid of magic. When he looks at the mess, he feels sorry for the girl. He is sure that they may look the same, but he feels like he is back with her, and that the magic that was unleashed made him feel like he was with her again. He decides to go and kill the ice demon.
