In this chapter, we learn more about the "Forest of Elementals" and how it's a place where "elementals" interact with humans. In other words, they're friendly with humans, but they don't interact with them in the same way that humans interact with animals. In fact, the only time an elemental comes into contact with a human is when a human curse is placed on an elemental by a "masked man" . This means that, even if you're not using black magic, the "miasma" will still eat away at you. The only way to break this curse is to use magic.
