She asks if the carriage will take her to the duke and duchess's house, and she wonders if they're really her parents. The girl also wonders if she belongs to her father, who doesn't like her very much either. She wants to find out more about the country, and the carriage takes her to see the city. The city is full of life, energy, and chatter. She wonders why she is in the city, even though everyone she knows has died. She also wonders why the only person she knows in the world is alive, and why she has come to live in such a beautiful city. She notices that the ice demon has just spoken to the girl. She thinks it's a good sign that the demon is talking to her, but she can't figure out what she should do about it.
