About This Chapter
In this chapter, the young narrator tells his friends that he's sending his story to all of his friends. He tells them that they're his friends, too, and that they always praised him as though he were a real person. He's shocked that they didn't realize how much damage they were doing to his friends' hearts. He says that they were just like living beings, but that he always spoke to them as though they were "mere dolls" . He doesn't understand how they could fall in love with him when they were so weak and stupid. He wonders why they would fall for him when he was so good at killing people. He also wonders why he would kill people who were supposed to rise up against the empire. He swears he'll kill all of them if they tell him that he saved him. He wants to go back to his original world, so he wants his friends to go on a vacation with him. The narrator says that he wishes he could tell the story to his brother. He asks him to hurry up and tell him what's going on, so that he can read it. He explains that he wants to tell his story from the point of view of a hero, so the narrator can tell it to his friend. He then asks if the narrator is having a nightmare, and the narrator tells him that it's not. They're going to sleep in an inn, where they'll be able to get some soldiers to help them break through the "gallant of light" that's holding them back. They also need to find their mom and dad, who are in a nearby village.
