In this chapter, the Governess and her two maids, Maria and Silvia, discuss their upcoming dinner party. The Governess tells Silvia that she wishes they could all learn from each other without worrying about their social standing. She tells her that she will have them form groups of four and each group will prepare a meal for the others. She then tells them to work hard together and not to worry about their own social status. She also tells them that they can count on each other and that they will hunt down a feast for the four of them
