About This Chapter
The scene opens with a conversation between the two young men. They've just returned from their first meeting, and they're both worried that they've run out of time to find a way to get over each other. The two men try to talk each other out of it, but they can't seem to get past the fact that they haven't had much of a chance to get to know each other in the past twenty years. When they finally get to the point, the two men tell each other that the other's house is ten miles away from theirs, and that they need to hurry up and find someone to help them out. The first man says that he's twenty years old and hasn't even met anyone he loves yet, and the second man says he has no experience in love at all. The second man asks the first man if he can help him, and he says he can, but he doesn't know how to do it. The third man asks if the other man is trying to persuade him to live, or to "plead a knife into his heart" .
