In this chapter, we hear the voice of a woman who has been kidnapped, and we learn that she is the wife of a powerful company president. The voice of the kidnapped woman is familiar, but we don't yet know who it is. The woman tells us that the man outside the door is afraid of being "dragged down" with her, and she wants to get rid of him. The kidnapped woman says that she has given the man the recordings of their conversation, and the man responds by saying that he would like to make a deal with the woman, but that he is afraid that the woman will kill him if he does. The two women agree to make the deal, but the man says that he does not want to kill the woman because she has changed him from an accessory to the ringleader. The women agree that they will let each other go if they let her go, and they both say that they have given the recordings to the man. The man replies that he has given them the recordings, and he says that if the women let him go, he will pretend that he and the woman never met.
