The narrator slowly closes the chapter. He asks if he can get the pickled cabbage or the chili flavored rice noodles. He's so poor that he doesn't have enough money to buy them. The narrator tells him that he can't really cook and that he hasn't received his paycheck yet. He tells her that he's buying snacks for her on her way to her place. She's the idiot! The narrator says that instant noodles are delicious, but that they're bad for you long-term health. She tells her to stop eating them. She says that she'll go grocery shopping and that she can cook, but she can only do that if she needs a stomachache. She asks if it's okay for her to leave, and she says yes. She promises to take her temperature after lunch and then nap.
