In this chapter, we learn that Little Ge has changed a great deal since the beginning of the novel. He is much more attentive to the needs of the people around him, and he is also much kinder and more loving to his mother than he has ever been to his father. He also learns that his mother is still his mother, and that she is not worthy to be his mother. He realizes that if he does not treat her like a mother, she will one day bite him.
