This chapter opens with a conversation between the Governess and Silverfish. The Governess tells Silverfish that she is unhappy because of what he has just said to her. Silverfish tries to calm her down by reminding her that he was the one who helped her get her first job as an artist. He tells her that if she breaks off her relationship with Silverfish, she will be able to find a new company. He also tells her not to bring up the fact that he helped her before. He reminds her that Silverfish is a very popular company and that she will find another company if she does not stop working with him.
