The scene opens with a soliloquy by Victor, in which he tells the audience that he wants to protect his star. He wants to know what is important to him, what makes him tick, and what he wants from the woman he loves. He asks her to tell him what she wants from him, and she tells him that she wants him to tell her what he likes about her. He tells her that he is interested in her because she is different from the man he thought she was, and he wants her to know that. He says that he still remembers the time when she said that she had become different, and that he believes that was a turning point in their relationship. He also asks her how she fell in love with him. She says that she loves him because she saw his acting talent on the stage, or because she was crying on the set. She tells him she is the biggest cry she has ever seen, and says that even though she is older than him, she is still a little girl with heart. He adds that he used to think that he could protect her, but later found out that protection was never something she was seeking. She can come to him and cry, he says, but at least she will not stop proving herself. He reminds her that she is already good enough and that all he can do is to like her.
