The scene opens on a ship in the middle of the action. The ship's crew is busy rehearsing a scene for the upcoming production of Tartuffe. The three men are waiting for the others to arrive, but they are interrupted by the sound of a door opening. The men are horrified to discover that the door is being opened by one of their co-actors, who has just returned from the bathroom. The two men hide behind a wall and wait for the other men to arrive. When they do arrive, they find that the three men have been rehearsing their lines for the play.
