In this chapter, we learn that Little Em'ly has been playing with a jar of candy, and that he's been trying to eat it. We learn that this is not the first time that he has tried to eat too much candy; in fact, he has been eating too much since he was a child. We also learn that his mother has been encouraging him to go to his friends' New Year's Eve party, but he refuses to go because he doesn't want to disappoint his mom.
