The next morning, the Governess wakes up in the middle of the night. She's not sure what's going on, but she's pretty sure it's nothing to sneeze at. She doesn't want to wake up anyone else, so she tells herself she'll take care of herself. The Governess goes on to tell the other women in the room that they're welcome to come in and see her, but they should be careful not to get too close to her. She also tells them that the doctor prescribed the medicine for her, and that's why she didn't get sick in the afternoon. The other women are welcome to visit her, too, but not in the privacy of their own rooms. She tells them not to worry, though, because the doctor's prescribed medicine is "effective" . She then tells the women that they should have some fresh brownies for dessert, since they've already had a good night's sleep.
