This scene opens with the arrival of Mr. Yates, who has come to see his son. He greets the boy and tells him that it is his "big day" and that he should "look alive" . When the boy asks if he can trust him, Yates replies that he can't because he has been holding the boy's hand all this time. He tells the boy to relax and to "get closer" , and the boy agrees. He then asks Yates to take him to visit his father, who is now much thinner and more "haggard" than before he was imprisoned
