In this chapter, the narrator tells us that he's not blameless. He's just joking. He says that he doesn't blame his parents for leaving him behind. He also says that his brother is still very much in love with his sister, despite the fact that she's been through a lot. He asks why his brother hasn't told him about the accident, and the narrator says that it's his fault. The narrator says he'll take it easy on himself for a while, and then he can look back on his life and think of all the happy memories he has with his mother and his brother.
