The narrator apologizes to Mingxu for the mess he's made. He's got a broken dog, a dog leash that's getting too excited, and a mom who won't let him hold the dog anymore. Ming is all, "Um, I got this , you can stay away from my mom . . I'm thirsty, I don't want to give up my own . you have bought four cups, I've got a few new shoes, and the rich have made a friend" . The narrator is thrilled, but he didn't do much to help out. Ming asks the narrator to come over to her house for dinner, and Ming says he'll do it. Ming wants to know why Ming doesn't have a formal dress yet, but the narrator says it's too late to refuse.
