"Splatter" , the narrator's soliloquy, opens with a description of a rainy day. He's worried that it's going to rain, which reminds him of "something terrible" . He tells us that he hopes it doesn't rain for long, because he'd like to know what's wrong with his friend, zheng bai guang, and why he's so afraid of him. He asks why zheng's mother is so upset, and she tells him that she's the kind of person who's always been kind to her kids. The narrator then asks why he keeps asking these questions, and he says that he wants to make zheng happy again, and that's why he wants him to come back to his room. He says he'll stay away from the subject, and then he tells the narrator to get lost in the rain when it stops. He wants to know if zheng is really in love with her, and if he'
