In this short scene, we learn that the two siblings are from different worlds, separated by time and space. Little xiang yang is the one who is leaving, and his mother is his sister. He feels like he has already done a lot of damage to his family, and he wishes he could go back to his old life. He asks his sister if she would like to buy a sunflow er , and she says she would, since she's so pretty. He tells her he's going to buy all of the sunflowers, but he asks her to tell him her name and who her mother is. She looks alert, but she doesn't look alert at all. He's not a bad person, he tells her, and asks if she knows her mom's friend. She says she does, and they're not close enough to be close enough for him to be able to know her. He says he'll call if he needs anything, and then he leaves.
