About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that summer vacation is coming, and that he's studying hard. He's worried about his friend Ayase, who's going to be away for a while. The narrator asks Ayase if he'd like to go to his house for a visit. Ayase says he'll be gone for a few days, and the narrator says that's okay, because Ayase's sister is going to go out with her mother that day. He asks if Ayase will be there, and Ayase tells him that he doesn't want to be around a lonely old man like Ayase. He also says that Ayase has a new commercial out, and it's got a lot to do with his new job as an actor in a new Disney movie. So the narrator is worried about Ayase and his family. He tells Ayase to go home and get his stuff, and then he asks if she's serious about studying. She says she is, and he says she looks so good that he can't believe how shiny her hair is. He then asks her if she wants to go back to school, and she says she'd rather be in a good university than be a "prodigy" like him. She tells him to stop bothering her, because she wants her parents to be worried about her.
