In this chapter, we learn that nomura and his wife have betrayed their love for each other and have married a "scum of a human" . Nomura begs his wife to spare her life, but she refuses, saying that she knows nothing of the situation. He tells her that he will curse her for ever falling in love, and that if she ever does, death will befall her. He also tells her to find another woman to marry, because he can't love her anymore. He says that it's better for him to find someone else to marry than to love her. The scene ends with nomura telling his wife that he has to go home, but he promises to return to live with her after he sees his father.
