In this chapter, we are introduced to Nestor's mother, Taruna. She is very excited to see her son again. She tells him that he is doing well in school and that her husband is getting tired of hearing his complaints about her. He also tells her that she is giving too much money to her son and that he will run out of it soon. Nestor is very upset, but his mother tells him not to worry, because he has done everything he can to go to Japan and he must succeed. She also tells him to send the money to his father, who will be furious if he does not send it
