About This Chapter
In this short scene, Huck and shangyu talk about their love for one another. Huck says that he's just taking medicine to get better, and that his mom is there to pick him up. Huck tells his mom that he didn't promise that they'd be together forever, but that he has to work harder to become a better person. He says that the teacher told him that everyone likes good people, so he needs to become more good. He knows that the person he likes is a disguise of his true self, but he says that it takes courage for him to expose himself to the world. He tells Huck that he was going to keep his disguise from her, but now that she's mixed up with sympathy, he realizes that it's actually not sympathy at all, but pride. Huck promises to be the one to stay by her side forever.
