The two young men are in the middle of a conversation about the future. The narrator tells them that the future will bring them closer together, and that they should be grateful for their friendship. The young men, however, are not yet ready to accept this news. They are still waiting for their father's message, and the narrator tries to comfort them by reminding them of the importance of their friendship
