The narrator introduces us to a middle-school student named Su, who is in town for a mid-autumn festival. He tells us that everyone in his town prays to the goddess of the moon at the festival, and that he hopes his drawing skills will improve. Su invites zhengshu, his friend, to come and bring him some moon cakes and fruits. He also tells him that his grandparents have moved away, so he is now alone at home. Su tells him to stay and play the game with him, and he agrees to do so. The narrator then tells us about a local festival tradition, in which people place offerings on the moon's surface. If you offer new stationseries and cosmetics to the moon, you can get high grades and become beautiful.
