The chapter opens with a flashback to a time when Tsumugi's friend moved away from the school. The flashback shows that Tommo is now living with his father, who lives in a small town in the U.S. Tommo tells his father that he wants to go hang out with his friend, but he's worried that he'll be late. He asks his father to tell him where he can find a place to hang out. He also tells him that his friend is going to work at a restaurant in town, and Tommo asks if he can ask her for a present for his birthday. He says he wishes he had straight hair like his friend's, but that it's hard for him to use up his allowance because people say things are fine. He tells his dad that calling his friend "sensei" on the parfait card is a bad habit, and he asks if the card will fill up by the end of the school year. His father tells him to be careful with his hair, because he'd need it. He then tells Tommo to ask his friend to give him a hair iron so that he won't have to ask her to pull his hair out.
