The narrator asks the first graders to present their gifts to the other students. The first grader says that he would like to know when they will be going to the graduation party. The narrator tells the first grader that he is going to be with the students when they need him. The second grader tells the narrator that she has not yet told him that she will be with them. The third grader tells him that he has made a lot of food in his three years at school. He says that the food they made was so good that it was easy for him to forget some of it. He hopes that the students will be happy when they return to school and that they will make some kind of farewell present for him. He invites the students to come to his restaurant for lunch. He tells them that he will be making sea bream rice, sea bream sashimi, and turnip leaf rice. He asks them to put the fish in the pot with the sake, turn the heat up to medium, and let the fish simmer for a while. Then he will grate the turnip leaves and top with wasabi. The students are excited to make the food. They draw a picture of themselves and eat it with the sliced fish. They are sad that they have made so much food, but they promise to make something new when they grow up.
