About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the restaurant has been closed because of the earthquake, but that it will reopen in a month's time. We also learn that Tamura and her mother will be at the restaurant that very night, and that the three of them will not be getting together again. Tamura tells us that she's been working hard to make the restaurant a success, and she wants to thank her mom for everything that she has done for her. She's excited about the upcoming restaurant month, and invites anyone who might be interested to come by. She also tells them that tomorrow morning, her mom will be there, and if the restaurant is still open, they'll all be able to get together. She says that if the store opens again, she'll be happy to have everyone there, since they won't all be together anymore. She tells everyone that she made taro stew the night before, and it's so good that she can't believe how hard it is to cut it with her knife. Everyone is excited to have lunch together, and Tamura says that she is going to have a fried chick when she shows her mom her restau santer day, which means that the store will be open again. We learn that she and her mom have been borrowing the restaurant so that they can learn how to cook right, even if they don't have the time to do so. They're worried that they're causing trouble for the parents of students, but they decide to keep cooking together even if the place is closed, because they've been learning how to do it right. They decide to buy some food for Tamura, and then Tamura asks if she can buy a kid's knife.
