The waiter tells the narrator that he brought some onions and ginger, and that he thinks she'll be able to eat them. He's sorry, he says, but the waiter doesn't want to feel lonely, so he'll stay for a minute. He tells the waiter that if he can stay, it'll make him feel less lonely. He says that when he got sick, he ate peaches canned , and she ate them all too. He adds some bread to the porridge and simmers it in milk until it's soupy, then he adds honey and sugar to make it sweet. He thanks the waiter for his help, and he asks if Tsumugi wants anything to eat. He wants to know if they're doing a delivery service, and they say that they are. They put the porridge in the water and boil it, then add dashi, soy sauce, sake, and salt. The porridge comes out really nice, but they need to add more dashi and soy sauce to cool it.
