Mr. Gong is late for his meeting with Ling. He tells Ling that she should understand that he is bringing her with him to meet Ling, and that he will make her embarrassed. Ling is upset, but Mr.gong is not. He says that Ling will be late, but Ling is not angry. She says that the man who called her back to China to marry her into the family has called again, and she will not be dictated to by her father again. He apologizes for being late, and Ling asks for his forgiveness.
