Ren tells his grandfather that he didn't tell him about his new business venture at the beginning of the chapter because he wanted to avoid embarrassing himself. Ren complains that his grandfather has been too active recently and has been attracting business partners who want to invest in China's booming pharmaceutical market. Ren says that he's been sensationalizing his domineering character, announcing his girlfriend, and gaining huge public attention. Ren is worried that if he keeps doing this, he will be killed like his parents.
