In the middle of the scene, we find out that the Governess is trying to keep her lover away from her. She's worried that she'll lose him to other people, and she's also worried that he'll be attracted to other women. The Governess tries to reassure her by saying that she won't be scared, and that she doesn't want him to be scared of her. We're not sure what she means by this, but we're guessing that she means that he shouldn't have sex with other women, since he's already attracted to her.
